Ironbark Grange

The Property

Ironbark Grange is located 60Km South of Brisbane and 20Km West of the Gold Coast on the upper North slopes of Mt Tamborine at an elevation of 320m above sea level. The property is 8.25Ha with a sub-tropical climate and an annual rainfall of 1500mm per year.

The house has been constructed using high mass walls and floors, good insulation in the roof, walls and double glazing throughout, while careful attention has been paid to window shading to minimise solar gain in summer and allow some heating during Winter.

The design of the property as far as possible has been along permaculture principles. Rainwater collection, composting waste disposal, integration of animals and gardens, pest management and use of chemicals has been undertaken in an environmentally sensitive way. Due to the steep fall of the land and the high and sometimes very intense rainfall, erosion control including orchard swales and road drainage, have been very carefully designed.

The scenery is magnificent as we can see all the way to the Glass House Mountains on a clear day and that's 120 km. We are surrounded by National Park so we have wildlife literally at our door. Expect to see roos and wallabies every day and often just outside your bedroom window.
