Currently working on a chest of drawers, similar to the dressing table in Zoe’s room, but much larger. The wood used will be Black Bean (a beautiful dark brown timber) for the top and frame, Silky Oak (heavily flecked light pink timber) for the drawer fronts and Spotted Gum (an oily hard wood) for the internal rails. All the wood used is Australian.
I have just about finished the carcass. All the rails were constructed first, creating seven rectangular hoops for the drawer rails and to tie the sides together. A bridle joint was used for the joints in the hoops. These hoops were then screwed to the side boards at the correct spacing for each drawer. See photos.
